Nyland Community Mission Statement (2005)

Nyland builds and celebrates conscious community.  We honor connectedness, sustainability, integrity, participation, creativity and the sacred.  We empower individuals to manifest their dreams to benefit themselves, Nyland and the greater community with respect for our agreements and differences.

Mission of the Thirdside HUB

To support all community members living our community values when respect for agreements decline and differences have turned into conflict.

ThirdSide HUB Goal

Maintain connection to the wisdom within ourselves in a way that supports and empowers Nylanders to, in the spirit of our community values (2005), use the Conflict Resolution Process (2013) in working with differences of opinion and conflicts that support individuals, relationships and the community.

Thirdside HUB Objectives

  1. To support all Third Side roles within the community: provider, teacher, bridge-builder, mediator, arbiter, equalizer, healer, witness, referee, peacekeeper.

 

  1. To provide educational opportunities to learn, practice and develop skills of Thirdside roles that support Nylanders to consider and use the Conflict Resolution Process in the spirit of our community values.

 

  1. To maintain a group of skilled individuals that act as HUB in communicating and supporting:

    1. Nylanders consideration of the Nyland Community Mission and Values

    2. Nylanders  & CAG’s with pertinent resources

    3. Thirdside coaches with coordination, engagement, conflict resolution processes, and an overarching process that tracks stages of change in a conflict process. 

 

Thirdside HUB Role (as it pertains to Thirdside Coaches)

  1. Initiation (happens in different ways)

    1. A community member or CAG member reaches out to the Thirdside HUB

    2. A Thirdside Coach or HUB member has stepped into a conflict that they observe, and bring this to the Thirdside HUB.

  1. Coordination

    1. Two people (3S team) will work together with all multiparty processes. (3S Team will be a member of the 3S Hub and a 3S Coach).

    2. The 3S team brainstorm options in how best to engage, a sharing of perspectives of the conflict is suggested through the use of the conflict grid and other models that assist them in separating the conflict story from the people in conflict.

    3. Decide upon strategy and roles in working together.

 

  1. Engagement

    1. Utilize 3S beginning, the 3S teams process, and the 3s closure process.

    2. Engage in debriefing methods to allow all of us to focus our attention on learning points that may best serve individuals, our relationships and the community as a whole.

  2. Conflict Resolution Processes

    1. Consider and utilize best processes we have available that take into account the individuals, the relationships, and the community.

  3. Overarching process

    1. Thirdside HUB intends to gather data about our conflicts, the degree of resolution, purposes served, and how they persist or change over time.

 

Thirdside Coach Objectives

  1. View our enfoldment of community through the lens of a Thirdsider.

  2. Engage where drawn, stretching in ways that support your individual process as well as the enfoldment of the Nyland community.

  3. Stay in communication with the Thirdside HUB with your process of engaging in conflict situations.  Brainstorm with consideration of Nyland community values (2005), multiple lens, perspectives, methods, and potential impacts.

  4. Allow for your optimal balance of structure and creativity in how best your 3S team can support those in conflict, their relationships and the community as a whole.

  5. Participate in debriefing for the purpose of continuing ones own learning about conflict dynamics, how best to work with them, seeking learning points we can share with one another to improve how we work together, as well as supporting our development of a system of understanding that is useful for our community.

 

Thirdside Coach Goal

Be an extension of and support Thirdside HUB goal by stepping into conflict when you see it, partnering with Thirdside HUB, staying engaged with an individual or group of Nylanders in conflict, as well as participation in a follow up process.
